On January 16, Dave East dropped a fifteen-track record, P2 (Paranoia 2). East’s new album includes features from Tory Lanez, Pimp Pimp P, T.I., Lloyd Banks, Bino Rideaux, Matt Patterson, and Marsha Ambrosius. And every single track is fire.

P2 is the second installment of East’s project, a follow up to his EP from the previous year, Paranoia: A True Story.

The Paranoia 2‘s opening track, “Talk to Big” sets the tone for the album off with a heavy baseline and an old-school hip hop beat. Dave East wastes no time in getting intimate with his listeners: “Trust me I know the prices / looked at my homie lifeless,” he raps. “I need some shit I can feel / nobody touch me.”

The tracks that follow continue to tell gritty stories with raw feeling: “Corey” tells an heart-rending story about a friend of Dave’s that he loses touch with Dave when he gains fame. “I could love you from a distance I ain’t gotta see you, it might not be me but somebody need you,” East says. The track slows down the pace, backed with slick piano riffs.

Meanwhile, the “Artist’s Pick” on Spotify chosen by the rapper himself is “Thank You,” a lighter track with both lyrics and a tune that make you want to dance.

East’s album is available for streaming on Spotify and TIDAL.

The New York native is definitely one to watch, named one of Hip Hop’s Future Moguls by Forbes along with Tyler, the Creator, Cardi B, and Post Malone.

So far, the album has hugely positive reviews from fans on social media. Check out some of the circulating tweets below.
