This past weekend, New Japan Pro Wrestling was getting some WWE hype as its 9-time Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho appeared at Wrestle Kingdom 12, which took place at the Tokyo Dome. He went up against Kenny Omega in a brutal back-and-forth No-DQ Match for the IWGP United States Championship, but end up losing. The next night, the surprises just kept coming as Chris Jericho returned to start a feud with crowd favorite Tetsuya Naito.
After signing with New Japan Pro Wrestling, the Fans witnessed a match that made Wrestle Kingdom 12 the most watch event in NJPW history, even better than the Rock vs. Cena in 2012 or Brock Lesner vs. the Undertaker in 2014. It was indeed a once in a lifetime weekend for not just the Japanese wrestling fans, but fans across the world.
