Selena Quintanilla, the best selling female Latin artist has finally received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Last Friday, 4,500 fans showed up on Vine Street to share this honor. This also adds another record under her belt for drawing the biggest crowd to commemorate this long awaited milestone in her career.
The Tejano music star was born in 1971. Selena, and her siblings, formed a band, where she would emerge as the lead singer. The energy of her performance touched millions, and was an inspiration for others to pursue their dreams. Her down home Texas roots added to her southern charm. The connection she had with her fans go unmatched, and her sound unrivaled. In 1995 she was shot and killed by a business colleague at the age of 23.

Accepting the award on her behalf was her siblings Suzette, AB, Selena’s parents Abraham Jr. and Marcella, and former husband and her guitar player, Chris Perez.

Also in attendance of this ceremony was cast members of the biopic Selena, released in was Edward James Olmos, and Jennifer Lopez who starred as Selena in the film.
