  • The world brightest athletes gathered together in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theater for the annual award show. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the ESPY awards. This year’s host, Peyton Manning did a great job entertaining his guests and fellow colleagues.

Some of Sport’s most familiar faces graced the stage Wednesday night. I’m sure the nominations might have been easy but selecting the winners of these categories had to be difficult.

Best male athlete nominations were Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs, Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, and the winner, Russell Westbrook. “Humbled” is the word Westbrook used to describe the winning of such an award. The Best male athlete award to accompany the NBA MVP trophy is well-deserved. To be chosen shows recognition of his efforts across the spectrum. Although not on the same team anymore, it seems when there’s Westbrook, Durant isn’t too far behind. DElFSVXVwAE09k5

Kevin Durant won the Best Championship Performance at the 2017 ESPY awards and his dominance also helped his team win the Best Team award. KD averaged 35.2 points in the final series all while his FG shooting was over 50%, and averaging 8 rebounds. Some might think Serena Williams was snubbed for the Best Female Athlete but the winner was American gymnast Simone Biles. DElSI8GXgAI3NcE

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees across the board! Being a pro isn’t easy, but these athletes sure make it seem so.
