Nickelodeon is set to reboot the classic 90’s show “Hey Arnold” in 2017! The movie will be titled “Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie”. The TV film will pick up right where it left off in 2004. Some of the original voice actors such as Francesca Marie Smith will return as Helga; Anndi McAfee as Phoebe; Justin Shenkarow as Harold; Olivia Hack as Rhonda; Nika Futterman as Olga; Dan Butler as Mr. Simmons; “The Simpsons” vet Dan Castellaneta as Grandpa; and much more. Many of the kid characters from the original cartoon including Arnold, will be voiced by new actors. Mason Vale Cotton will play the role of Arnold; Benjamin “L’il P-Nut” Flores Jr. will voice Gerald; Gavin Lewis as Eugene; Jet Jurgensmeyer as Stinky; Aiden Lewandowski as Sid; and others.
The animated series ran between 1996 and 2004. The plot focused on a fourth-grader with a notoriously known football-head living with his grandparents. Executives at Nickelodeon say the storyline will capture the nostalgic essence of the show while revealing and resolving unanswered plotlines–including the whereabouts of Arnold’s parents who have been missing from the show. As the saying goes, they don’t make them like they used to, but the classics seem to be coming back. The show has so many holes to fill that I’ve wondered about throughout my adolescent years; I just can’t wait!
