It’s no secret that Cardi B came up from the bottom and made moves in a major way. On the latest cover of The Fader’s Summer Music issue, Cardi discusses her unapologetic rise to the top.
Cardi has come a long way from the crazy antics we used to see on Instagram. Although she is known worldwide she never forgets that she is still a regular, degular girl from the Bronx. Cardi dives in deep in an intimate interview. After gaining public attention for her raw videos on the gram and reality TV, she explains how she never felt following her dreams to become a rapper would be on the radar.
“I was always scared to follow my dreams because if I follow my dreams and I fail, I can’t dream about it anymore,” she explains. “It’s easier to settle for less.”
Cardi broke out into the rap game with her mixtape Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 1. Far from anyone’s expectations, the mixtape was poppin’! Now that the Bronx native is on the map, and creating unforgettable vibes, she has no plans of turning back.
“Am I ever gonna grow thick skin? No. I just gotta focus on making money. Cause ain’t no going back. I’m gonna be famous forever.”
Cardi B is nominated for two BET Awards this year. The momentum she is giving, along with her raw personality, it seems to be only up from here.
