Hip hop was said to be just a fad, something that would come and go. Now decades later, one of the best genre in history is receiving an official hall of fame.
The museum is reportedly set to reside in Harlem, NY, a place that culturally accepted most of the pioneers. After the Official Hip Hop Hall of Fame + Museum to the World won its bid, the HHHOF provided that their mission is to “preserve, archive, exhibit, educate, and showcase hip-hop music & culture from around the world.”
The project will be separated into two phases. The first phase is set to open in February 2018. It will consist of a floor-by-floor plan with the ground floor including a themed café, gallery, visitors bureau, and retail gift store. The second level will have the museum exhibits, events space, offices, and a multi-media studio for film.
Phase two seems even more exciting, according to the press release the HHHOF will be 20 stories high including a five-star hotel, an entertainment complex, a retail mall & gift shop, and arcade, TV Studios, a sports bar, restaurant and concert lounge that is expected to hold up to 1,000,000 guests.
HHOF founder, JT Thompson has his work cut out for him. This is one for the culture. Will you be visiting?
