The evening of the Met Gala is always one to remember. This isn’t any old red carpet event, but the creme de la creme of gala’s. It is held the first day of May every year and never fails to be known as one of the most fashion forward nights of the year. Everyone comes dressed in theme and proceeds go to the Costume Institute. You may remember last year when Katy Perry showed up in full clad with no eyebrows. That’s why it was no surprise when she, along with trendsetter Pharell, were honored as co-hosts beside Vogue’s Anna Wintour.
This year the museum’s theme was “Comme des Garcons/Rei Kawakubo: Art of the In-Between.” The designer is known as a major influencer in the fashion world and is the second living designer to be honored at the event. There seemed to less confusion with more celebrities hitting the mark in dress. Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Tracy Ellis Ross, and Selena Gomez all had some memorable attire with Rih Rih stopping the show. Katy Perry herself came fully dressed in red Margiela with a wool red wool coat, a headpiece, and a silk tulle veil which read “witness.” She even went as far to add evil eyes on her nails along with some stunning jewelry.
That wasn’t the only time the pop singer turned heads though. She was also the entertainment for the evening after cocktails and greetings. The self-proclaimed activist performed “Firework,” “Chained To The Rythm,” and “Dark Horse” for the star-studded crowd to enjoy. Yet, she really moved them when her special guests hit the stage… The Migos. They put on a show of their recent collaboration “Bon Appetit” alongside faceless Comme Des Garcons models. Decked out in no other than Versace, the Migos definitely had a crowd reaction, although who knows how many Gala attendees are truly hip hop fans.

2017 continues to prove itself as the year Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset solidify their name as some of the greatest artists in hip hop. They’ve been on the receiving end of multiple platinum records and made plenty appearances on a variety of major television shows including Ellen and Jimmy Fallon. It will only continue to go up from here and as the grow their brand with pop collaborations, only more doors will open.
