Where was I During #DazeSummit? My 7- Day Experience, Winners & More!

Posted on Posted in Event Coverage

What a week!

It’s official, the 2nd annual Daze Summit Spring Break Festival has come to an end. If you had the chance to attend, kudos to you! There was plenty to do during this 7-day festival. You had the opportunity to go to panels, showcases, business expo, networking event and a party. Shout out to all the people who came out and took the time to network and socialize amongst some of the industry’s finest.

This year I was on board as media/press which was dope because I got to see it all — as well as the behind the scenes. I remember back to the first Daze Summit meeting in January, excited thinking about last year. And super excited about what was to come. Well, let’s just say I enjoyed the showcases and panels!

The first event I went to was “5 Years In The Making” showcase powered by Mor. Bookings, Boss Fam Group and hosted by Hip Hop Mike from Hot 97. The talent that night was dope and I found myself paying attention to almost all performers. Especially since the artists were competing for a chance to get flown out to LA for the BET Experience this June!

Yup, 3 winners were chosen and they’ll move on to the next round to compete again at a later date. Clap it up for artists: Prom Knght, Wong Tunes and R-Naby who was picked by the judges, delivering the best performances of the night. And yes, an all-expense paid trip, folks. Provided by Mor.Bookings agency. Isn’t that lovely?

The “Get Lit Or Die Trying” showcase was definitely lit! (JB, I see you!) It went down at The Social Butterfly in Brooklyn, NY and was hosted by Jason Bourne and Sidney Young. The artists knew it was a competition and came to put on a show. Sour Audio, Futuristic Lingo and Kris Payne won from this showcase and will move on to the next round as well. One of the last events and most memorable that I attended was “Show Me What You Got 5”. Hosted by Silva, Bino Mclaughlin, and Benny Pitts. Took place at the legendary SOBs in New York City, so artists already knew that you must bring your best and nothing less! This night was different and the talent was on fleek so instead of picking 3 winners, the judges had to pick 4 to advance the next round. Congrats to Cheeses MacGod, R-Naby, Tyheese and Badtime!

As I continue to reflect…Daze Summit was such a vibe. Don’t miss out next year! It’s truly a blessing to build, work, and meet other like-minded individuals. Did you attend? Doesn’t it feel good to give back? All donations and proceeds of ticket sales will go towards sending a high school student to college on a full scholarship. So, who’s going to win the big trip to LA? Idk, we’ll just have to wait and see. Trust me, I’m just excited as you are! Stay tuned.
